Roof damaged?Filing a claim?Need it on paper?

You’ve got hail hits on the shingles, shingles in the yard after a hard wind, or a ceiling stain after a monsoon cell. The insurance company will want to know what’s damaged and what fixing it would take.

Roof claims bring their own worries. Here’s what homeowners fear after a storm, and what Lifetime Roofing of El Paso does about each one.

  • Strangers at the door after a storm, in out-of-town trucks

We’ve been family owned since 2009, in El Paso since 2019, and we’re based at 8914 Gateway Blvd E.

  • “We’ll cover your deductible”

We make no deductible offer. Texas law has the insured pay any deductible.

  • A “free inspection” paper that turns out to be a contract

Our free inspection ends with a written estimate you can read and compare.

  • A roofer who says the whole roof has to go

We quote a repair when a repair will do.

  • Worry that the adjuster will miss damage

We document the damage we find, so you’ve got it on paper.

  • Calls that go unanswered once the storm has passed

Our phones are answered 24/7, and if the crew’s running late, you get a call.

The Texas Department of Insurance warns that contractors who offer to cover a deductible may cut corners or inflate the bill. Tell us what happened to your roof

What callers askabout roof insurance claims

Should I call a roofer or my insurance first?

It’s up to you. Lifetime Roofing of El Paso inspects for free with or without a claim, so you can see what’s damaged before you file. The Texas Department of Insurance says to file as soon as you can.

Will my insurance cover the damage?

Your policy and insurer decide. Coverage is between you and your insurer, so Lifetime Roofing of El Paso doesn’t discuss coverage or exclusions. We document the damage and write the estimate.

How long does a roof insurance claim take?

Your insurer sets the pace. Lifetime Roofing of El Paso gets you the written estimate within 48 hours of the inspection, and the claim itself runs at the insurer’s pace.

Will a roof claim raise my insurance rate?

Ask your insurer or agent. Lifetime Roofing of El Paso can’t speak for your rate, and your free inspection and estimate don’t depend on filing a claim.

How claim documentation works, call to estimate

  1. 1

    Call, and a person answers

Dial (915) 353-3934 at any hour. Tell us what hit the roof and whether you’ve filed a claim yet.

  2. 2

    Free inspection on the roof

A roofer goes up and checks the damage. If the crew’s running late, you get a call.

  3. 3

    We document the damage

We write up what we find on the roof, and the estimate is built from that damage.

  4. 4

Free written estimate within 48 hours

You get the work we recommend and its price on paper, so you can compare it with any other quote.

  5. 5

You keep your own claim records

The Texas Department of Insurance says to take pictures and video, list the damage, and keep damaged items until the company says otherwise. It also says to be there for the adjuster.

We do

  • Inspect your roof for free, claim or not.
  • Document the damage we find.
  • Write the estimate, with a repair quoted when a repair will do.

We don’t

  • Negotiate your claim, adjust it, or meet the adjuster.
  • Discuss coverage or exclusions.
  • Make any deductible offer.

Questions about your payment belong with your agent. The Texas Department of Insurance guide to replacing your roof explains replacement cost and actual cash value.

The deadlines Texassets for insurance companies

Acknowledge the claim

15business days to acknowledge it

This is the first deadline your insurer meets after you file.

Accept or reject it

15business days once it has what it needs

A rejection must say why in writing. The insurer can extend this deadline by 45 days.

Pay the claim

5business days after agreeing to pay

The mortgage company may receive the payment, so the check may not come to you alone.

After a catastrophe

15more days the state can add

The Texas Department of Insurance can add this time after a weather catastrophe.

What you getin writing

Claim paperwork carries no warranty of its own. The warranty comes with the work: if you hire us for the repair or replacement that follows, you get the warranty paper at the end of the job.

Workmanship means how the job was done, so that call comes to us. The workmanship warranty transfers to the next owner if you sell the house.

More questions aboutyour roof claim

What should I do if hail or wind opened my roof?

Cover it and save receipts. The Texas Department of Insurance says to cover holes, as the policy may pay for temporary repairs. Lifetime Roofing of El Paso does emergency tarping, and our phones are answered 24/7.

What if my insurer denies the claim?

Get the reason in writing. The Texas Department of Insurance says a rejection must say why, and its Help Line is 800-252-3439. Lifetime Roofing of El Paso doesn’t negotiate claims.

Can my roofer also be my public adjuster?

No. Public adjusters are licensed by the Texas Department of Insurance and can’t be the contractor on that claim. Lifetime Roofing of El Paso doesn’t act as an adjuster.

Do I have three days to cancel a roofing contract?

Sometimes. Bus. & Com. Code 601.051 lets a buyer cancel by midnight of the third business day after signing, only for sales over $25 solicited and agreed away from the merchant’s place of business, with the exceptions in 601.002(b). Texas has no three-day cancellation after a storm claim or denial. Lifetime Roofing of El Paso estimates are written.
